Play Warhammer Online on your MacBook 2008

I have never really thought of gaming when I thought of a Macintosh but it seems they’ve made great strides to make their new MacBook 2008’s into a gaming computer.

Warhammer Online is developed for the PC, so in addition to your new MacBook 2008 you will need a copy of Boot Camp and a copy of Windows XP.  If you own the new Mac OS X Leopard operating system, you’ll have a copy of Boot Camp already installed so you will just need a copy of XP and you’re good to go.

Here’s a quote from Apple about the new Leopard operating system and Boot Camp:

“Leopard is the world’s most advanced operating system. So advanced, it even lets you run Windows if there’s a PC application you need to use. Just get a copy of Windows and start up Boot Camp, now included with Leopard. Setup is simple and straightforward — just as you’d expect with a Mac.”

Sounds great.  To see if it would really work, the guys over at Obsessable.com decided to install Warhammer Online on their new MacBook 2008:

“We installed Windows XP Professional on a 32GB partition on our new 2.4Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo powered MacBook with 2GBs of RAM. Then, we installed Warhammer Online Age of Reckoning, a MMPORG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-playing Game), that was released in September and has some very impressive graphics. We hit one snag in installation when the installer told us that there were not adequate permissions to continue, however, navigating to the Program folder in Windows and creating a new game folder to install into fixed the problem.”

To watch the videos head over to Obsessable.com.  Looks like it runs pretty smooth to me.
