Crafting in WAR: Apothecary and Talisman Making
By wardojo / June 16th, 2008 /There are two actual crafting skills in Warhammer Online: Apothecary and Talisman Making.
Apothecary is a skill that a lot allows players to create potions, lotions and powders. You can do this anywhere at any time. Merchants from tier 2 sell all low level ingredients for apothecaries. Gathering is where you will find the highest level and best quality ingredients.
Apothecary first requires a container and each container has four slots. The first slot is for the Main ingredient. This main ingredient determines what kind of plant you’re going to make. All main ingredients are very unstable, so you will need to add up to three additional ingredients to make the potion stable. Its all about experimentation.
Sometimes things will work out and sometimes things won’t. If your creation is unstable, there is a chance that the potion will fail. If the potion fails, your container could be destroyed but the ingredients used will not be lost.
And there is always the possibility that something truly extraordinary might happen making your potion much more then you ever expected.
This system will allow a lot of flexibility in the potions you can create for any given day. For example, let’s say you have two hours to do some RvR tonight. So you craft potions that only last two hours or less but make up for it in how powerful they are. The next day you decide to do some PvE and you will be playing for about 6 hours. In this instance you might make potions that last much longer and have a weaker effect.
Talisman Making allows players to create talismans. Talismans are items of power which can be attached to other items and armor. To create a talisman you’ll need items from various crafting and gathering skills including a magical fragment from magical salvaging. The magical fragment could be considered the main ingredient. You will also need a container and up to three additional ingredients to make a better talisman more stable.
The overall power of any talisman is dependent upon the power of the ingredients. Talismans can give additional stats, armor and resistances. More powerful talismans can have much more elaborate bonuses.
Sounds pretty cool, I can’t wait to give it all a try in the beta!

Can the talismans actually be acquired from mob/boss PvE drops? Almost at level 8 now, and I have tons of talisman slots, but never seen a talisman
Yep, you will start getting them from quests, RvR merchants and drops. You have four slots so fill them up asap.
Where do you learn the talisman making skill and the magical scavenging skill. I am lvl 15 and cant find them anywhere.Plz help its life or death!
I am only level 6 and just started playing, but im pretty sure all the trade skill trainers are in Wulfsiege. The magical scavenging traner just says scavenging. And the talisman trainer says hedge wizard.
I know this is a stupid question, but…does anyone know “how” to make a talisman? I keep slicking on stuff in my inventory but i just cant seem to figure it out. I have the container. Do i need to put the ingredients into the container? And if so, how do i do that?
